CATTARAUGUS 225Q FIGHTING KNIFE WITH STACKED LEATHER HANDLE AND SCABBARD

This is a US Army USMC Marine WWII Cattaraugus 225Q fighting knife with leather scabbard.

Original World War 2 era American “Quartermaster Knife” manufactured during the war by Cattaraugus Cutlery in Cattaraugus, NY. Model 225Q fighting/utility knife (Q stands for Quartermaster) was designed as a heavy-duty knife for opening ammo boxes, cargo crates, and hammering down nails (or enemy skulls) if needed.

These Quartermasters were very popular with the troops and saw action in every major military theater during the war.

This Quartermaster knife is in great condition for the type and the blade is only lightly used.  The original leather scabbard is in good shape as well. The blade edge is still razor sharp.

The ricasso is stamped Cattaraugus / 225Q on one side.

Has a stacked leather washers handle with fiber spacers on the ends and a hammer-like iron pommel and “tear-drop shape” iron guard.

The handle is in great shape with all parts are tight with no play.

This solid fighting/utility knife is about 10-5/8″ / 27 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/8″ /15.5 cm long.
