This shoulder sleeve insignia was worn by the "Big Red One's" of the First Infantry Division on their Army Combat Uniforms. They were given this nick-name from this patch.
The 1st Infantry Divison became active in 1917. They were also nick-named the "Bloody First" or the "Fighting First".
The Big Red One's landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion and were very active during WW2 not just in Normandy but also at Algeria, the Ardennes, Tunisia, Sicily and the Rhineland. Also active during WW1 including fighting at Meuse, Montdidier and St. Mihiel.
This is a one of a kind item and you will receive the exact one photographed. This was picked up in Normandy this year for D-Day celebrations.
