ORIGINAL WWII GERMAN NCO SIGNAL WHISTLE WITH LANYARD

This is an original German WW2 army issue signal whistle (Trillerpfeifen) with a green knotted lanyard.  There looks like the is a small chip on the top of the whistle as seen in the third image.

The whistle's for Officers, NCO’s and individual soldiers were supplied from 1943 to Infantry company commanders, section and group chiefs.  Made of celluloid or Bakelie, it was attached to the third button of the tunic and was kept in the pocket.  It was an indispensable element in the passing of orders during combat in the front line.

Used by all branches of the Waffen SS and Wehrmacht.
