SS - SCHUTZSTAFFEL:

Founded in 1925, The “Schutzstaffel,” which in German means Protective Echelon, was founded in 1925 as Adolf Hitler's personal bodyguards.  

They became well known for being the power and feared organization in German.  In 1929, Heinrich Himmler became the head of the SS and he expanded the size and the role of the Schutzstaffel.

Himmler a anti-Semite had recruits prove that they have no Jewish ancestors.  The SS was given military trainingg and we taught that they were the elite of the Nazi Party and the German military. 

By 1939, the SS had 250,000 plus members, in many subdivisions.  From running concentration camps to intelligence operations the SS had a wide variety of duties.

At the end of the war, history deemed the SS a criminal organization that were directly involved in war crimes.
