50 PFG BANK NOTE FOR CONCENTRATION CAMP POLITICAL PRISONERS IN ORAINIENBURG - ORIGINAL
This is an original 50 pfg (pfennig) Lagergeld note or money issued to Political prisoners of the Oranienburg concentration camp in Brandenburg, Germany, later commonly called Sachsenhausen. These notes were used to pay prisoners for their work within the camps and for compensation for confiscated valuables. They could be used at camp canteens and stores. They could not be used for anything outside of the camp.
Made of a piece of paper measuring approximately 3 ½” x 5” with a black background. Both the front and the back are identical on this note. Includes two illustrations of German officers facing centre and a strand of barbed wire, along with the German eagle and Swastika. Titled, "Lagergeld des Konzentrationslagers Oranienburg". Oranienburg was used primarily for political prisoners.
