German original mess tin M31 or Kochgeschirr Model 1931 (cooking pot Model 31)
It is a kidney shaped, enameled steel, cooking pot with a total capacity of over 1.7 liters. It consists of 2 parts: the pot with a wire handle, and a cover with a handle to use as a plate.
This mess kit has it's owners name engraved on it of Jos. Herrig on one side and on the other side it looks like he also tried to scratch his name also.
