GERMAN WW2 9th SS PANZER DIVISION HOHENSTAUFEN SILVER RING

This is a German WWII 9h SS Panzer Division Hohenstaufen silver ring.  The ring is made of sterling silver, die struck. Red hot enamel.

The 9th SS Panzer Division "Hohenstaufen"was a Waffen-SS armoured Division.  Originally a Panzergrenadier Division it was formed in February, 1943. 

Later upgraded in October, 1943 to it’s Panzer Division status, with approximately 19,000 members.  Initiallythe 9th SS Panzer Division was commanded by SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich. 

The Hohenstaufen participating in both the Eastern and Western Fronts, including Kamenets-Podolsky pocket, Operation Market Garden, the Ardennes Offensive and Operation Spring Awakening.

They surrendered in Steyr on May, 1945, to the U.S. Army.
