PIECES FOR MAKING YOUR OWN GERMAN WW2 RIBBON BARS - REPRODUCTION

These are the pieces needed for making your own ribbon bars, which consist of individual tabs and also mounting bars. Price vary according to piece.  The Tab-backed ribbon bar style was introduced in WW11. Each ribbon bar consists of a tab (or holder) for which the ribbon is wound on.  Then each tab is attached to a mounting bar.

When making your own ribbon bar you must first attach your ribbon to a “tab” a small holder for the ribbon that has 2 little tabs that will slot into the holes of a ribbon mounting bar.  The tabs are then turned over to lock the tab on the mounting bar and keep it in place.

Ribbon mounting bars are elongated metal or plastic strips with clutch backs that regulation ribbons can be slid or snapped on to, providing a secure way to display them on uniforms.

These mounting bars are the snapping type for prongs.  The mounting bars come in sizes between 2 ribbon bars (or tabs) up to 12 ribbon bars or tabs.  They have tongue shaped or “U” style catch hooks.

Ribbon bars were individually made by the wearer – specific to his needs.
