GERMAN ORIGINAL D-DAY FIRED MG-42 SPENT BULLETS (SHELL CASINGS) FROM OMAHA BEACH WN 70 POSITION - ORIGINAL

Authentic D-Day German MG-42 bullets (sheel casings) fired on D-Day at the landing American soldiers on Omaha Beach, Dog Green, at WN70. We personally dug these bullets out of the backyard of our house at Omaha Beach.  The house was standing, unoccupied, on the beach front during the D-Day landings and managed to remain with only some roof damage, quite a bit of damage to the fence and some bullets imbedded in the walls of the building.

See pictures of where these were dug out.  You can also see an overview of the position.

You will be purchasing one bullet only you can see examples of the bullets in the images.

The Wn 70 strongpoint is one of the four defensive positions of the village of Vierville-sur-Mer. It is located on the heights overlooking the beach to the east of Vierville-sur-Mer, on the street, Blvd de Cauvigny. It had a large gun casemate which was still under construction at D-Day.  The R612 gun casement was almost finish but not functional at D-Day.   It consists of several shelters and tobrouks.

The site though did still consist of:

  • 1x 80 mm (FK17 -t-) gun (Czech-made 8cm field cannon)
  • 1x 2 cm anti-aircraft gun (Flak 30)
  • 2x 8,14 cm (Gr.W 34) mortars (Tobruks)
  • Machine gun positions in a web of trenches.

Today the site is used for agriculture and only two positions are visible – the open emplacements for the field gun and the Flak, although these are heavily overgrown and stand behind a fence on the edge of the cliffs.

The house, originally owned and built by Michael Hardelay, has been visited by the likes of Nancy Reagan, NBC commentator Brian Williams, many political dignitaries, is a large ocean front villa.  Consisting of:
