GERMAN ALLGEMEINE SS JUNIOR OFFICER'S BLACK KEPI WITH SILVER TRESSE
PRE-WAR SS KEPI FOR JUNIOR OFFICER WITH SILVER TRESSE REPRODUCTION
This is a reproduction German pre-war Kepi worn by the early detachments of the SS, for a SS junior officer. The kepi was the original headgear of the SS before the major change to the uniform in 1932 when the kepi was replaced by the peaked cap. The kepi is of black felt it has a flat circular top and a short peak. The cap features silver tresse around top ridge denoting a junior officer (higher ranks were just silver).
The cap has German NSDAP (NAZI PARTY) SS PATTERN POLITICAL CAP EAGLE. (Mützen Adler) and an aged early SS Totenkopf style skull with no bottom jaw. The skull features stamped zinc construction, two rows of teeth, oval eye cut-outs, a triangular nose cut-out and embossed cranium detailing with crossed bones.
The black 1923-style kepi was produced until 1939 and was worn on official occasions
