KDF HESSEN NASSAU REICHBUND DEUTSCHER SEEGELTUNG 1937 TINNIE - ORIGINAL 

This is an original "Tinnie" or badge, made of medal, issued on 1937 for the NSDP Hessen - Nassau.  

It reads on the front:  KRAFT DURCH FRUEDE HESSEN NASSAU REICHSBUND DEUTSCHER SEEGELTUNG 6. 1937.

German Tinnies were small, lightweight badges or pins made of tin alloy. Normally the featured patriotic or propaganda motifs, slogans or symbols of the time.  Being very popular during WW2 as a form of fundraising and fostering unity, patriotism and support for the regime among the German population.   

Many people collected Tinnies as momentos of events or rallies they attended as they were easy to get and we affordable. Some causes for fundraising included supporting the war effort or charitable organizations.  Proceeds of the sale went to financing Nazi initiatives or providing for soldiers and their families.

Tinnies were made by die-striking or stamping.  German tinnies during WW2 were typically made using a process called die-striking or stamping.

Depending on the designs, attachment mechanisms like pins or clips were affixed to the back, facilitating wearing or display. 

Tinnies varied in shape, style and design based on the particular event.
