GERMAN MP40 MACHINE GUN SLING - BROWN
GERMAN WW2 MP40 SLING - REPRODUCTION
MP-40 German Machine Gun Sling.
This is in clearance because a few details we did not like . but perfectly good.
The WW2 MP40 slings were made of leather, dyed brown and came with the cross-hatch “ricasso” pattern.
This sling is similar to the K98 sling in many ways including the length but the biggest difference between them is the holes. The K98 sling has 3 holes and the MP40 has 2 holes. The 2 holes of this WWII sling allows for buttoning the sling together with the distance between them longer. Markings were also similar to the KP98 slings however the MP40 also included the designation “MP38 u. 40”. As MP40 slings were made after 1940 they would not have any full names on markings and would only have a code.
During usage, the button holes would become worn and the leather got soft allowing the buttons to slip out as the holes became larger. Many soldiers buttoned on the K98 sling’s “Haltestuck” to help.
