CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ENSIGN FLAG OF WWII - ORIGINAL
This flag became the symbol of the Canadian Armed Forces during WW2. Serving as both a nautical flag and a civil flag. Sometimes called the “Red Ensign”.
The flag is a British Red Ensign, with the Royal Union Flag in the canton, emblazoned with the shield of the coat of arms of Canada in the bottom right quarter. The shield is divided into four quarters, with one lower section. The 4 quarers are the coat of arms of England, Scotland, Ireland, France who are the four founding nations of Canada. At the base of the shield is a sprig of three maple leaves representing Canada.
This flag is 100% cotton and measures 16” X 34”. It is maker marked, but we can only make out the word "Awning". In used condition.
