CANADIAN MKIII REFURBISHED PARATROOPER HELMET
CANADIAN MILITARY RECONDITIONED MKIII PARA HELMET
This is a old MKIII Refurbished Paratrooper Helmet with the canvas chin strap.
We bought this 15 years ago from Q.M. STORES on the east coast. We do not think they are around anymore.
We are not sure if they used the original Canadian dispatch helmet shell or original Mk 111 shell and then put all new interior parts; liner, chin strap, webbing etc.
Also there is an ink-stamped "C-broad arrow", on the chin strap and liner, indicating it was issued through the Canadian Quartermasters Office.
The size seems to be 7 or 7 ¼.
The British paratrooper helmet was introduced in Second World War and was officially known as the "Helmet Steel, Airborne Troops," this paratrooper helmet was worn by Paratroopers and Airborne forces.
This is a nice refurbished example of the WW2 MkIII Paratrooper helmet, as used by British and Canadian forces. It differed from the earlier MKII by having a canvas chin strap, replacing the leather chin strap used in the MKI and MKII varieties. The MK III began to replace the MK II helmet in February of 1944. The MKIII was not widely issued until September 1944, although some were used by the 6th Airborne Division during the Normandy Invasion in June, 1944.
