BRITISH WW2 No4 MKII ENFIELD SPIKE BAYONET WITH SCABBARD AND FROG

This British bayonet, scabbard and frog are original.   The scabbard is marked No 4 MKII B.  The frog is marked on the reverse 22433947 and is made of khaki heavy canvas.

The No. 4 bayonet was created to replace the WWI vintage pattern 1907 bayonet. As a result of a British search for a new bayonet after WWI resulted in the No. 4 spike bayonet that came into production at the beginning of WW2.  The design of the No. 4 bayonet is said to have been taken from Swiss socket bayonets. The No 4 bayonet was accepted into service alongside the No 4 rifle.
