BAVARIAN WW1 SERVICE MEDAL 3RD CLASS AND RIBBON FOR 9 YEARS SERVICE

This is an original German Bavarian Class 3 service medal, 1914-1918. The silver medal has on the front the inscription:  Treue Dienste bei der Fahne and the image of a shield in the centre.   The reverse has the inscription:  Fahne Dienstauszeichnung 3. Klasse and the shield in the centre has the roman numeral IX inside.

Issued between 1913 – 1921. 

The “Treue Dienst bei der Fahne” medal, which translates to “Loyal Service to the Flag,” was awarded during World War I to recognize long and faithful military service.
